Moving On Up

I remember the first time we put Emmry in her infant car seat. We are leaving the hospital after 6 long, tiring days and it was 10:30 at night! We were so sleepy, we couldn't even figure out how to work her car seat. The nurse just laughed at us and refused to help (she didn't want to be responsible). She did offer some good advice. She told us to push the button to loosen the straps! YAHOO! It worked! And we were off!Eight months and five days later... Emmry has moved up! She now has a BIG GIRL CAR SEAT! And let me just tell you how excited I am about this! I put her in the car, with having no where to go... just so she could ride in it.
I put her mirror on the headrest of the passenger seat and she laughed the whole way, I guess because she could see out the window! Needless to say, she loves her new car seat and this is such a big but marvelous step for not only her but us too!

PEE?? Are You Serious?

My goodness, it must be a month for the "first evers"! This morning, Emmry was laying with me on our bed. I usually just sit and watch her roll around and play. Oh, I just happen to shut my eyes for a second. Okay, so maybe a minute or two but when I woke up, I just couldn't help but laugh! Emmry had pulled the tabs off her diaper, taken it completely off and then she proceeded to pee all over our bed!!! H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S! I quickly ran down stairs to inform Todd of what our precious angel had just done. We both laughed hysterically as for that fact that she actually figured out how to take her own diaper off. When I asked her if she had peed on mommy and daddy's bed... She just laughed and smiled! Wow, motherhood is the B-E-S-T!

Future Miss America

This is an ongoing joke within our family; Todd wants Emmry to play sports (softball to be exact), while I think Emmry should be a ballerina or better yet, a pageant queen! However, I think Emmry has made up her own mind. Every time we go out to the field, she sleeps. EVERY TIME! If for whatever reason she is not sleeping, she is usually fussy. BUT, here is what happened when I put one of my crowns on her:Todd says the picture would be way better with clothes on, but I think this is just perfect! I'm telling you, this girl had a grin from ear to ear when I put this on her.The crown must of had magic in it too! See... she can stand!
Todd and I have come to a conclusion though... We will let Emmry decide what she likes. BUT she has to play at least one season of softball and she has to do at least one pageant! i think that's pretty fair!

EIGHT! EIGHT! EIGHT!

Yes, I can't believe I am typing this. Emmry is EIGHT months old and the time has just flown by. I look back at Thanksgiving, Christmas, even Easter and oh how she has just changed. My mom said to me the other day, "Kacy, did you ever think you could love someone so much... and you didn't even want to have kids?!?!" I probably would have ten more, if I could AND if my wonderful hubby would allow me too! (Doubt it) :)
For starters, EIGHT is looking GREAT! Emmry is ALMOST crawling. She's doing the whole on her hands and knees, rocking back and forth. We have EIGHT teeth coming in. The doctor says she will probably get them all at once. YUCK! But, I guess it's better just to get it all over with. She LOVES food. However, she is just a tad bit picky; no pees, carrots, green beans, peaches, fruit melody, spaghetti, hawaiian delight, or lasagna. Emmry's day begins with waking up in between 8:30 or 9:30. We have a bottle and then lay in the bed for a good bit, playing. She eventually falls back asleep. Once she wakes up, usually an hour later... we play some more. Emm eats lunch around 1:00. Oatmeal with apple cinnamon is her favorite and we have bananas for dessert. The rest of our day is always different. We either have Hunter with us or we are going to one of Daddy's baseball games. However it is spent, I am with her for all of it. Dinner time falls around 7:00 or 8:00. We eat. We play. We take a bath around 10:00. We sleep around 11:00. That is the everyday life of a "Payne". Hard, huh?
Emmry is H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S. I never thought I'd laugh so hard, especially over an eighth month old! Todd and I enjoy every moment with her... the good, the bad, the sticky, and funny!

We Have a FIRST or Shall We Say Eight!

I think I am going to have to learn not to speak so fast. Just the other day, I wrote to Naomi Strickland on my facebook that Emmry still didn't have any teeth. I went on and on about how she is doing and how great she is. I even commented to Todd and said this exact phrase, "Where are all those sleepless nights people talk about"? This is where we say, "Kacy, insert foot in mouth... NOW"!

Emmry doesn't have just one tooth, or two, or even three for that matter. She has EIGHT teeth coming in... and yes, all at one time! Maybe I am just being a baby but this is horrible! Not to mention, last night she woke Todd up at 5:55. So what does he do? Yes, you guess it... wake me up too! I am actually surprised at myself. I was so calm. I got her from the bed, changed her poopy diaper, feed her, played with her, rocked her, and stuffed her little teething butt back into bed. She was awake for about an hour, maybe a little longer.

Three MAJOR things I have learned throughout motherhood:
1. Never, EVER say something UNLESS you want it to happen.
2. Dr. Stars may taste nasty but it keeps Emmry from crying.
3. When babies get teeth, go ahead and prepare yourself.
Teething = screaming, crying, and pain for BOTH the baby and the mother!

As for now, Emmry is off with her daddy for the moment. They are at the pet store. I don't want to speak too fast but she seems to be "better" today! As soon as her teeth REALLY start showing, pictures will definitely be posted! Oh and wish me luck!! :)

Chocolate Bunny... Hmm?

I took this advice from my wonderful sister, Jaymie. The Easter Bunny brought Emmry a basket filled with all sorts of goodies; two stuffed bunnies, bubbles, eggs, chocolate eggs, gum eggs, a baby duck that quacks, and a chocolate bunny to top it all off. Jaymie said she allowed Hunter to eat his bunny when he was only about 5 months old. So... here Emmry went with the bunny and chocolate.
The outcome... Yeah, she loved it.
My advice: NEVER, EVER do this with clothes on. Have a washcloth ready. Have a bottle with water to help wash it down. Get the sink ready for a bank. And most importantly, have a passy next to you because when you take it away, it's not pretty! :)
The end result... a very happy, clean baby!!

The Easter Bunny... She LOVED Him!!

Okay. So I was totally 100% shocked at my little doll baby when she met the easter bunny for the first time. I figured she would cry and scream and have huge crocodile tears falling from her face. Boy, was I WRONG! You guys... She loved him. Reached for him even! Played with his little paws and nose too!
I guess I just know how Emmry is with strangers that I assumed she would be a horrible girl but I was shocked. Most of all... I was so proud! Her picture that the mall took of her and the Easter Bunny is PRICELESS! I wish I had gotten that shot!
These are the moments I will cherish forever. Nothing can compare! BUT... I am keeping my fingers crossed for next year! :)

Easter! Easter! Easter!

For starters, this so far has been one of the best holidays for us. Emmry was P-E-R-F-E-C-T! That word sums it all up. She was in a great mood. Probably the happiest we had ever seen her.
The Sunday before Easter, Emmry had her first Easter Egg Hunt at church! I am not sure who had more fun; Emmry (being carried around) or Todd (taking pictures) or me (collecting eggs) or the family watching us!! It was a blast. (The lady in the background, with the purple bucket is Emmry's Nana-Gayle. She is getting eggs for Emmry too!! )The next Saturday before Easter... we spent the afternoon at my grandmother's house... where Emm had her 2nd egg hunt!
I can still remember the day I gave birth to her and exactly how I felt. I remember the look in Todd's eyes when we saw her for the first time. The feeling gets better with each and every day. I can't imagine my life without her! She makes the most gloomy days... HAPPY! Here are a few more pictures from Easter! This is Emmry and her cousin Luke.
